How Save On Energy Instant Discounts Work

The Save on Energy Instant Discounts Program, delivered by the IESO, provides upfront incentives on eligible high-efficiency lighting products purchased through participating distributors like Mars Lighting & Electrical.

Instead of applying for rebates after your project is complete, your business receives the discount directly on the invoice when you buy qualifying LED lamps, fixtures, and controls. MarsLED then handles the program reporting and gets reimbursed by the IESO.

Who qualifies?

1. Facilities located in Ontario, connected to the IESO grid
2. Commercial, industrial, institutional, agricultural, and multi-unit residential buildings
3. Retrofit projects only – upgrades in existing buildings (new construction is not eligible)
4. For multi-unit residential and hotels, incentives apply to common areas only (not individual suites or guest rooms)

What products are eligible?

1. LED T5 & T8 replacement tubes
2. LED troffers and linear ambient fixtures & retrofit kits
3. LED high-bay and low-bay fixtures
4. LED recessed downlights & reflector lamps (spot/flood)
5. LED refrigerated-case lighting (horizontal & vertical)
6. Commercial-grade occupancy sensors and fixture-integrated controls

Typical Incentive Levels by Product Type

Incentives are set per unit and depend on the category, wattage, and lumen output of the fixture. For example:

• T8 / T5 LED Tubes: up to $2–$8 per lamp (depending on type and wattage)
• Troffers & Linear Fixtures/Retrofit Kits: up to $11–$18 per fixture
• Low-Bay / High-Bay Fixtures: from $40 up to $140 per fixture for higher-output luminaires
• Recessed Downlights & Reflector Lamps: up to $4–$7 per unit
• Refrigerated Display Case Fixtures: up to $7–$9 per fixture
• Occupancy Sensors & Fixture-Mounted Controls: up to $15–$30 per sensor

Exact incentive amounts depend on fixture category and design. Mars Lighting will confirm your final eligible rebate once we’ve matched your project to qualifying DLC or ENERGY STAR® products approved by the program.
